Leigh Rzepecki, LCSW, CADC
I want to know your story.
Biographies and autobiographies were always my favorite genre to read as a child, so no wonder I became a Clinical Social Worker. Venturing into an individual’s life, and understanding his/her/their own personal story is a gift I’m given each day I get to go to work.
What I am most passionate about is working with individuals who are struggling with the relationship with his/her/their body, food, and self-worth. This topic has been the focus of my training and professional life for nearly a decade. Working at Eating Recovery Center Insight Behavioral Health, provided extensive training in higher levels of care with emphasis on disordered eating and mood and anxiety diagnoses. In addition, further study at Evanston Hospital’s Chapman Center to earn the certified alcohol and drug counselor certification (CADC) provided even more exposure to patterns that often appear in family milieus and where shame often perpetuates the cycles of maladaptive behaviors.
Spreading the radical and refreshing message of deprogramming diet culture, calling out fatphobia, and weight stigma is my mission as a therapist. Using a foundation of concepts from Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating, individuals have broken the cycle of disordered eating and self shaming and moved towards freedom from worrying about self-worth tied to the number on the scale or the size of their pants.
In addition to my passion of healing from diet-culture, disordered eating patterns, and substance abuse, I’ve worked as a antepartum and postpartum social worker. Parenting is a wonderful and difficult journey and requires its own support for those going through it new or experienced. Does it ever get easier?
When I’m not listening to your story I enjoy time with my husband and children and can almost always be found outside, on the yoga mat or chatting with my besties near and far.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from The University of Dayton and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago.
I am in-network with BCBS PPO plans and licensed in IL, FL, and SC.
