Body Image / Body Dissatisfaction / Anti-diet work
Our therapists at Intuitive Counseling are sick and tired of our world being so caught up in and focused on diet culture and chasing the societal appearance ideal. Let us support you on navigating, once and for all, the end of finding the next “Monday morning diet.”
We consider ourselves shepherds in spreading the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating written by Evelyn Tribole, MS, RDN, CEDRD-S and Elyse Resch, MS, RDN, CEDS-S, FAND, and honoring and supporting the work of Dr. Lindo Bacon, author of Health at Every Size. The Health at Every Size or HAES is an approach to public health which seeks to downplay weight loss as a healthy goal and reduce stigma towards people in larger bodies.
As therapists with experience treating and studying eating disorders, we understand that shaming and instilling guilt related to what someone eats only causes more eating problems! Eating problems then trigger body dissatisfaction and negatively impact mental and physical health.
Here are some of our favorite authors, bloggers, therapists and dieticians who are publicly helping shepard our world into an anti-diet-driven force.
